Overview of HPPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026
The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has initiated the recruitment process for 369 Assistant Professor (College Cadre) positions in the Department of Higher Education, Himachal Pradesh. The recruitment covers 22 subjects, with each post advertised separately via individual notification numbers (Advertisement Nos. 34/6-2026 to 55/6-2026). Selected candidates will be engaged as Job Trainees with a fixed monthly emolument of Rs. 35,000.
Eligibility Criteria for HPPSC Assistant Professor
Candidates must ensure they meet the following academic and age requirements before submitting an application:
- Educational Qualification: Master's degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD categories). Candidates must have qualified the NET (UGC/CSIR) or an equivalent test like SLET/SET. Ph.D. holders fulfilling specific UGC regulations are exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
- Age Limit: Applicants must be between 18 and 45 years of age as of 1 January 2026. Age relaxation is provided to reserved category candidates of Himachal Pradesh as per government norms.

Selection Process
The recruitment process consists of the following stages:
- Screening Test: A qualifying Computer-Based Test (CBT) or offline MCQ-based examination.
- Subject Aptitude Test (SAT): A 3-hour descriptive examination based on the subject-specific syllabus.
- Personality Test: A 30-mark interview conducted at the HPPSC office in Shimla for candidates shortlisted based on the SAT and interview score.

Ensure that all scanned documents, including degrees, category certificates, and proof of age, are clear and readable.
