Overview of JKPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026
The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has released Notification No. 06-PSC(DR-P) of 2026 to fill 70 backlog vacancies for Assistant Professors. These positions are distributed across 24 disciplines within the Higher Education Department (HED) of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. The recruitment is conducted in accordance with the JKPSC (Business & Procedure) Rules, 2021.

Eligibility and Qualifications
Candidates must be domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. The core educational requirements are as follows:
- Master's Degree: Minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD/PhD holders qualified before 19 September 1991) in the relevant subject.
- NET/SLET/SET or PhD: Must have cleared the NET conducted by UGC/CSIR or equivalent accredited test. Alternatively, a PhD degree awarded as per UGC Regulations (2009/2016) is accepted.
- Music Discipline: Traditional and professional artists with "A" grade AIR/Doordarshan status and teaching proficiency may apply under specific criteria.

- Open Merit (OM): 40 years
- Reserved Categories: 43 years
- In-service Candidates: 40 years
- Physically Challenged: 42 years
Selection Process
The selection will be based on a single written examination of 3 hours, comprising 120 multiple-choice questions. Candidates must qualify the written test to proceed to document verification. The Commission holds sole discretion over center allotment in Srinagar and Jammu.
Practical Application Instructions
- Candidates must complete the One Time Registration (OTR) on the official JKPSC portal before applying.
- Ensure all uploaded photographs are date-stamped and recent (post 1 January 2026).
- Once submitted, editing is restricted to the specific correction window (01-03 September 2026).
- Retain a physical copy of the submitted form; submission of hard copies to the Commission is not required unless requested during document verification.
