HP Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) November 2026 Notification

The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE), Dharamshala, has released the official notification for the HP Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) November 2026. This state-level eligibility exam is conducted to determine the qualification status of candidates aspiring to teach at elementary, primary, and secondary levels across Himachal Pradesh government and government-aided schools, in accordance with the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009.

HP TET November 2026 covers ten distinct teacher categories including Trained Graduate Teachers (Arts, Medical, Non-Medical), JBT, Hindi, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Urdu, and Special Educators. Since HP TET is purely an eligibility test, passing it does not guarantee a direct job appointment. Successful candidates must apply for teaching positions as and when vacancies are advertised by the Government of Himachal Pradesh.

Subject-Wise Written Exam Schedule

Each paper carries a total duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes (150 minutes). The schedule is detailed below:

Subject-wise Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must ensure they satisfy the education qualifications designated for each category prior to submitting their application:

• TGT (Arts): Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Commerce with at least 50% marks and B.Ed; or Senior Secondary (12th) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.El.Ed.
• TGT (Non-Medical): B.Sc (Non-Medical) with at least 50% marks and B.Ed; or Senior Secondary (12th) with 50% marks and 4-year B.El.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
• TGT (Medical): B.Sc (Medical) with 50% marks and B.Ed; or Senior Secondary with 50% marks and 4-year B.El.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
• JBT: Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks along with a 2-year Junior Basic Training (JBT) or Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
• Shastri (Sanskrit): Shastri degree from an institution recognized by the Himachal Pradesh Government with 50% marks.
• Language Teachers (Hindi/Punjabi/Urdu): Bachelor’s degree in the respective language elective or PG in the language with minimum 50% marks, plus B.Ed or 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
• Special Educators: D.Ed / D.El.Ed / B.Ed in Special Education from an RCI-approved institute with a valid Rehabilitation Council of India registration certificate.

Note: Final year students pursuing their relevant teacher training qualifications are also permitted to sit for this test. A 5% relaxation in qualifying marks is applicable to SC/ST/OBC/PHH candidates of Himachal Pradesh.

• Language: Bilingual (English & Hindi) except for respective language papers
• Qualifying Marks:
  • General Category: 60% (90 marks out of 150)
  • SC/ST/OBC/PHH: 55% (82 marks out of 150)
• Validity: The HP TET qualification certificate remains valid for lifetime.
