AIIMS Awantipora Faculty Recruitment 2026

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Awantipora (Jammu & Kashmir) has announced a significant recruitment drive for Group ‘A’ Faculty positions. This notification (Advt No. 67/2026) aims to fill 94 vacancies across 40 specialized departments, including Anaesthesia, General Medicine, Cardiology, and more. Vacancy Distribution

The recruitment covers four major designations with the following breakdown:

• Assistant Professor: 85 Posts
• Associate Professor: 05 Posts

These positions are available across multiple categories including UR, OBC, SC, ST, and EWS, with 4% reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

Salary Structure (7th CPC)

Selected candidates will be placed in high-tier pay levels as per the 7th Central Pay Commission:

• Professor: Level 14-A (Rs. 1,68,900 – 2,20,400)
• Additional Professor: Level 13-A2+ (Rs. 1,48,200 – 2,11,400)
• Associate Professor: Level 13-A-1+ (Rs. 1,38,300 – 2,09,200)
• Assistant Professor: Level 12 (Rs. 1,01,500 – 1,67,400)

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess a medical qualification included in the IMC Act, 1956, and a postgraduate degree (MD/MS/DM/M.Ch) in the respective specialty. Non-medical candidates with a Master’s degree and a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in relevant disciplines may also apply for certain posts.

Experience: Teaching and research experience varies from 3 years for Assistant Professor to 14 years for Professor, depending on the post and qualification stream.

Age Limit (as on 18-06-2026):

• Assistant/Associate Professor: Max 50 years (Relaxable up to 55 years for reserved categories).
• Professor/Additional Professor: Max 58 years.

Application Fee

The application fee must be paid online and is non-refundable:

• UR / OBC: Rs. 3000/-
• SC / ST / EWS: Rs. 2400/-
• PwBD: Exempted

Note: SC/ST candidates who appear for the interview will be eligible for a fee refund.

Selection Process

The selection involves a two-stage process:

1. Short-listing: Based on an Objective Screening score (out of 75 marks) evaluating academic achievements, research publications, and teaching experience.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates (top 10 per post) will be called for a personal interview/personality test conducted by the Standing Selection Committee. The final selection is based solely on interview performance.
