JoSAA 2026 Mock Seat Allocation Overview

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) manages the counselling and seat allocation process for academic programs at IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other GFTIs. The mock seat allocation is an indicative exercise designed to provide candidates with a preliminary understanding of their potential seat allotment based on their filled choices and JEE Main/Advanced ranks.

Accessing Mock Seat Allotment Results

Candidates can access their indicative results through the official JoSAA portal once they are released. Follow these steps:

• Navigate to the official website at josaa.nic.in.
• Select the link labeled 'View Mock Seat Allotment Result' within the Candidate Activity section.
• Authenticate using your JEE Main 2026 Application Number and Password.
• Input the security pin displayed to view your provisional allotment status.
• Download the result for your records.

Important Considerations for Candidates

The mock allocation result is provisional and intended for practice purposes. It does not guarantee that the same seat will be allocated in the final rounds. Candidates are permitted to modify their choice preferences following the release of the Round 1 and Round 2 mock results until the final deadline of 2026-06-11.

JoSAA Allotment Decision Options

Upon the release of the final Round 1 seat allocation on 2026-06-13, candidates must select one of the following options:

• Freeze: Accept the currently allotted seat and exit the counselling process.
• Float: Accept the current seat while remaining eligible for higher-preference seats in subsequent rounds.
• Slide: Accept the current seat with the option to upgrade to a higher-preference course within the same institute.

Candidates who are allotted a seat must complete the seat acceptance fee payment and report to the designated center within the specified timeframe to confirm their admission status.
