The Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme (CTSSS), administered by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, provides financial assistance to children aged 10 to 14 years. The scheme, operational since 1982, supports young individuals demonstrating exceptional talent in music, dance, drama, painting, sculpture, crafts, and literary arts.
Scholarship Provisions and Financial Support
The scholarship offers financial support to selected candidates to help sustain their training under a Guru or teacher. The assistance includes:
- Annual Scholarship: ₹3,600 per year per student.
- Tuition Fee Reimbursement: Up to ₹9,000 per year, covering actual fees paid to the designated Guru.
Eligibility Criteria for 2026-27
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for the scholarship:
- Age Limit: The applicant must be between 10 and 14 years of age.
- Educational Background: Students must be enrolled in a recognized school. Children from families traditionally practicing performing arts are also eligible, regardless of formal schooling.
- Domain Proficiency: Demonstrated outstanding talent in specific fields such as music, dance, drama, painting, sculpture, crafts, or literary activities.

Application Procedure for CTSSS
The application process for the CCRT scholarship does not follow a fixed annual calendar. Instead, the CCRT invites applications periodically through advertisements in Employment News and leading national and regional newspapers. Interested candidates should monitor the official CCRT portal for formal notifications.
Once an advertisement is released, candidates must complete the prescribed application proforma and submit it via post as per the instructions provided in the notification. Shortlisted candidates are invited to a regional-level interview or test, typically held between May and August.
Compliance Requirements for Selected Scholars
Upon selection, scholars are responsible for submitting specific documentation to ensure the continued disbursement of funds. Required forms include:
- Annexures I through VIII (prescribed by CCRT).
- Periodic Progress Reports (Annexure VII).
- Payment receipts processed via the Public Financial Management System (PFMS).
