GSSSB Junior Geologist Recruitment 2026: Overview
The Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board (GSSSB) has announced a significant recruitment drive for the post of Junior Geologist (Laghu Bhustarshashtri), Class-3. A total of 43 vacancies are available under the Gujarat Water Supply and Sewerage Board (GWSSB). Vacancy Details and Salary Structure
The recruitment includes regular and SRD posts. Selected candidates will be placed in a fixed pay period for the first five years before transitioning to the full 7th Pay Commission scale.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must meet one of the following academic requirements:
- Option 1: Master’s Degree in Geology or Applied Geology with at least 55% marks from a recognized university.
- Option 2: Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering with 55% or more marks.
- Additional Requirements: Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in Gujarati, Hindi, or both.
Age Limit (as on 20/03/2026)
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Maximum Age: 37 Years
- Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories, women, PwD, and Ex-Servicemen as per Gujarat State Government rules.
Selection Process
The selection will be based on a competitive examination (CBRT/OMR format) followed by Document Verification. The exam consists of two parts:
- Part-A (90 Marks): Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, Constitution of India, Current Affairs, and Comprehension (English/Gujarati).
- Part-B (120 Marks): Technical Subject (Geology/Geosciences).
- Total: 210 Marks | Duration: 180 Minutes.
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for every wrong answer.

- General Category: ₹500/-
- Reserved Categories (SC, ST, SEBC, EWS, PwD, Ex-SM, Women): ₹400/-
- Note: The fee is refundable for candidates who appear in the exam.
