HPSC Haryana ADA Syllabus 2026 & Exam Pattern Overview

The Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) has released the updated syllabus and exam pattern for the Assistant District Attorney (Group-B) recruitment. Following directions from the Hon'ble Punjab and Haryana High Court, the screening process now includes a significant focus on Law subjects. Candidates preparing for the 255 ADA vacancies must align their preparation with the latest Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) guidelines.

Haryana ADA Selection Process 2026

The selection for the post of Assistant District Attorney involves three distinct stages:

  • Stage 1: Screening Test (Objective Type) - Used for shortlisting candidates (10 times the number of vacancies).
  • Stage 2: Subject Knowledge Test (Descriptive) - Core law subjects evaluation.
  • Stage 3: Interview/Viva-Voce - Personality and communication assessment.

The screening test is designed to test the general aptitude and foundational law knowledge of the candidates.

Screening Test Syllabus Breakdown

Section A: General Topics (Up to 50% weightage)

  • General Science & Current Events (National & International).
  • History of India and Indian National Movement.
  • Indian and World Geography.
  • Indian Polity, Economy, and Culture.
  • General Mental Ability, Reasoning, and Analytical Abilities.
  • Basic Numeracy (Class X level) and Data Interpretation.
  • Haryana GK: History, Geography, Economy, and Culture of Haryana.

Section B: Law Topics (Minimum 50% weightage)

  • Civil Law: Code of Civil Procedure, Indian Contract Act, Partnership Act, Sale of Goods Act, Hindu Law, Mohammadan Law.
  • Criminal Law: Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023, Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) 2023.

Stage 2: Subject Knowledge Test (Descriptive)

This stage carries the maximum weightage for final merit selection.

  • Total Marks: 150 Marks.
  • Duration: 3 Hours.
  • Syllabus: Detailed descriptive questions from Civil Law (CPC, Contract Act, Hindu/Muslim Law) and Criminal Law (BNS, BNSS, BSA).
  • Weightage: 87.5% of the total marks in the final merit list.

Stage 3: Interview / Personality Test

Candidates who qualify the Subject Knowledge Test will be called for the interview. The interview carries a weightage of 12.5%. The final merit list is prepared exclusively based on the combined performance in Stage 2 and Stage 3.

As per the latest notification, the Haryana ADA Screening Test is scheduled to be held on 21 June 2026. Candidates are advised to visit the official HPSC website regularly for admit card updates.
