IIT Delhi Project Scientist Recruitment 2026

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has released an official recruitment notification (Advt No: IITD/IRD/124/2026) for the position of Project Scientist. This recruitment is conducted through the Industrial Research & Development (IRD) unit for specialized research projects. Job Overview and Salary Details

Selected candidates will work on a contractual basis. The salary structure is competitive, ranging from Rs. 47,790 to Rs. 62,350 per month, based on experience and increments. Additionally, House Rent Allowance (HRA) @ 27% will be provided as per institute norms.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must possess a First-class or equivalent degree in B.Tech or M.Sc. in one of the following disciplines:
    • Condensed Matter Physics
    • Solid State Physics
    • Nanoscience & Technology
    • Materials Science or equivalent
  • Desirable Experience: Preference will be given to candidates who have qualified in national-level exams like GATE, CSIR-UGC-NET (including Lectureship), or IIT JAM.
  • Technical expertise in thin-film deposition, plasma-based vapor deposition, material characterization, and scientific writing is highly valued.

Age Limit

  • The maximum age limit is 35 years as of the closing date of the application.
  • Age relaxation will be applicable for reserved categories as per the Government of India (GoI) rules.

Selection Process

The selection will follow a two-step process:

  1. Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on their educational qualifications and relevant research experience.
  2. Online Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online interview to assess their technical knowledge and suitability for the project.
