The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of India's most prestigious competitive examinations. For the 2026 session, IIT Guwahati has been designated as the organizing institute. Age Limit and Attempt Rules

GATE 2026 offers immense flexibility regarding the profile of the candidate:

  • Age Limit: There is absolutely no upper age limit to appear for the GATE 2026 exam.
  • Number of Attempts: Candidates can appear for the exam an unlimited number of times, provided they meet the educational criteria.
  • Score Validity: The GATE 2026 score remains valid for three years from the date of the result announcement.

Nationality and Other General Criteria

While primarily for Indian nationals, GATE is also open to international candidates. Applicants from Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Ethiopia, and the UAE are eligible to apply, provided they satisfy the necessary academic requirements.
