Overview of VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital Senior Resident Recruitment 2026

The Office of the Director, Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) & Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, has initiated a recruitment drive to fill 179 Senior Resident positions on an ad-hoc basis. These roles are spread across 38 departments and specialties, including vacancies at the satellite centre, RHTC Najafgarh. The appointment is initially for a period of 89 days, which may be extended based on performance and departmental requirements, up to a maximum tenure of 3 years.

A total of 179 seats are available. Candidates should note that all appointees may be required to serve at RHTC, Najafgarh on a rotational basis.

Eligibility Criteria for Senior Resident Posts

Applicants must meet the following requirements as of the date of the walk-in interview:

• Educational Qualification: MBBS with a PG Degree, Diploma, or DNB in the respective specialty recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) or Dental Council of India (DCI).
• Registration: Candidates must possess a permanent registration with the Delhi Medical Council (DMC) for both MBBS and PG degrees. Proof of application for registration is also acceptable.
• Age Limit: General/EWS: 45 years; OBC: 48 years; SC/ST: 50 years. Age relaxation for PwBD candidates follows Government of India guidelines.

Critical Application Instructions

• Security Deposit: Selected candidates must submit a refundable security deposit of Rs. 65,000/- at the time of joining.
• Documentation: Bring the original application form (Annexure-I), original degree certificates, mark sheets, DMC registration, and one set of self-attested photocopies.
• No Online Application: No prior online registration is required. You must appear in person at the venue with the completed application form.
• NOC: Currently employed candidates must provide a No Objection Certificate from their employer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply for more than one specialty?

No, candidates are permitted to appear for only one specialty/department. Attempting to apply for multiple specialties will result in the cancellation of your candidature.

What if my DMC registration is under process?

You may appear for the interview if you can produce valid proof that you have applied for permanent registration with the Delhi Medical Council.

Is the security deposit mandatory?

Yes, a refundable security deposit of Rs. 65,000/- is mandatory at the time of joining as per institutional policy.
