Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the WBPSC Principal post, candidates must fulfill the following educational and professional requirements:

Educational Qualification

• Master’s Degree (2-year regular course) with Honours at the Graduation level, having at least 55% marks in any school teaching subject.
• M.Ed. / M.Ed. (Elementary) with at least 55% marks OR M.A. in Education with 55% marks along with a Diploma/Degree in Primary/Elementary Education (55% marks).
• Teaching Experience: Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in a recognized Primary or Elementary Teachers' Training Institute.
• Language Proficiency: Ability to read, write, and speak Bengali.
• Desirable: Proficiency in Computer Applications.

Age Limit (as of 01-01-2026)

• Maximum Age: 42 Years
• Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per West Bengal government norms (SC/ST: 5 years, OBC: 3 years, PwBD: up to 45 years).

Salary Scale

Selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 67,300 to Rs. 1,73,200 per month as per Pay Level 17. Additionally, they will receive other allowances as admissible under state government rules.
