The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, has issued notification no. 17-12/2026-GDS for the engagement of 23,757 Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) personnel. This recruitment drive covers 23 postal circles across India, offering roles as Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak. Selection is based purely on the merit of Class 10 marks.

The selection is entirely merit-based, derived from a system-generated list of Class 10 marks. Grades/CGPA are multiplied by a factor of 9.5 to determine the equivalent percentage. No written examination or interview will be conducted.
Registration opens on 31 August 2026. The application window is open from 2 September to 21 September 2026. An application fee of ₹100 is applicable for general category male candidates, while female, SC/ST, PwBD, and trans-woman candidates are exempt.
