Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications (As on October 5, 2026)
- Senior Personal Assistant: Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university. They must possess an English shorthand speed of at least 110 words per minute (w.p.m.) and a computer English typing speed of not less than 40 w.p.m., with good basic working knowledge of computer operations.
- Personal Assistant: Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university. They must possess an English shorthand speed of at least 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) and a computer English typing speed of not less than 40 w.p.m., along with practical working knowledge of computer applications.
Age Limit (As on January 1, 2026)
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Maximum Age: 32 Years
- Candidates must have been born not earlier than January 2, 1994, and not later than January 1, 2008.

Delhi High Court SPA & PA Salary & Pay Matrix
- Senior Personal Assistant: Appointed candidates are placed under Level 8 of the Pay Matrix as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) recommendations (Group 'B' Non-Gazetted classification).
- Personal Assistant: Selected candidates are placed under Level 7 of the Pay Matrix of the 7th CPC (Group 'B' Non-Gazetted classification).
Four-Stage Selection Process
Both the SPA and PA recruitments involve an identical structural outline divided into four distinct progression stages. Stage I is strictly qualifying. Merit ranking is calculated by summing up raw marks obtained in Stages II, III, and IV.
- Stage I: English Typing Test (Qualifying): A 10-minute speed evaluation on computers. Candidates must score a minimum speed of 40 w.p.m. with total errors capped at 3% using the characters-with-space method.
- Stage II: English Shorthand Test: Consists of a 5-minute shorthand dictation passage followed by 45 minutes of transcription on computers.
- For SPA: 110 w.p.m. dictation (550 words total, maximum 120 marks). The permissible error threshold is 5% (27.5 errors).
- For PA: 100 w.p.m. dictation (500 words total, maximum 110 marks). The permissible error threshold is 5% (25 errors).
- Stage III: Main (Descriptive) Examination: 100-mark descriptive paper with a duration of 120 minutes. It comprises English Essay Writing (40 marks), Formal Letter Writing (15 marks), English Grammar & Comprehension (25 marks), and dual Translation exercises between Hindi and English (20 marks). Candidates must score a minimum of 50% (General category) or 45% (Reserved/PwBD categories) to qualify.
- Stage IV: Interview: Conducted for a maximum of 15 marks. There are no mandatory minimum qualifying marks for the interview stage.
