Exemption from NET/SLET/SET is provided to candidates awarded a PhD as per UGC (Minimum Standards for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016, provided specific conditions (regular mode PhD, external examiners, open viva-voce, published papers, conference papers) are met and certified by the university.
• Route B: A PhD in the relevant subject obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked within the world's top 500 as per QS World University Rankings, Times Higher Education (THE), or Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai) rankings.

For subjects like Art/Drawing & Painting, Music Vocal, and Music Instrumental, eligibility also includes the above routes OR a traditional/professional artist with a Bachelor's degree, outstanding professional achievement in the discipline, having studied under recognized masters, being an "A" grade artist on All India Radio/Doordarshan, and possessing sound theoretical teaching ability (with minimum 55% at Master's level for direct recruitment).

Relaxations:

• A 5% relaxation in qualifying marks (from 55% to 50%) is applicable for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/disabled category candidates.
• Another 5% relaxation (55% to 50%) is extended to PhD-degree holders who obtained their degree before 19 September 1991.

Important Instructions & Guidelines

• The registration and application form must be filled in English only.

• Candidates must accurately declare any pending court cases or convictions. Concealment or false declaration discovered later will lead to immediate cancellation of candidature/selection.
• No travel allowance (TA/DA) will be paid for appearing in the written examination or interview.
• PwD candidates are entitled to scribe facility (as per Government orders dated 4 December 2019 and 8 September 2022) and 20 minutes extra time per hour. The scribe must be arranged by the candidate and registered with the Commission at least one week before the written exam.
