The Uttar Pradesh Shiksha Sewa Chayan Ayog (UPESSC), Prayagraj, has officially released Advertisement No. 03/2026 for the Special Teacher Eligibility Test (Special TET) 2026. This crucial examination is mandated for teachers currently serving at the Primary and Upper Primary levels across Uttar Pradesh, including approximately 2,500 Special Teachers/Assistant Teachers (Children with Special Needs - CWSN).

This Special TET is being conducted in compliance with recent directives from the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, making the Teacher Eligibility Test mandatory for all serving teachers to ensure educational standards. Online registration for the UPESSC Special TET 2026 commences on September 5, 2026, with the written examination scheduled for November 3, 2026. Eligibility Criteria for UPESSC Special TET 2026

This Special TET is specifically designed for serving teachers and Special Educators as per Supreme Court mandates. Candidates must fall into one of the following categories to be eligible:

1. Serving Primary and Upper Primary Level Teachers:

Teachers currently serving in the following types of schools are eligible:

• Primary Level (Class 1 to 5): All schools run by the State Government, Local body schools, and those granted affiliation/recognition by the State Government/Basic Shiksha Parishad, as well as schools receiving aid from the State Government.
• Upper Primary Level (Class 6 to 8): All schools run by the State Government, Local body schools, and those granted recognition/affiliation by the State Government/Basic Shiksha Parishad/Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, as well as schools receiving aid from the State Government.

2. Special Educators (CWSN) serving on contract/deliverables basis:

• Special Educators, Primary Level (Class 1-5), CWSN: Must have passed Graduation along with an RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India)-recognised D.Ed Special Education or equivalent examination, and mandatorily hold an RCI registration certificate with an active CRR number.
• Special Educators, Upper Primary Level (Class 6-8), CWSN: Must have passed Graduation along with an RCI-recognised B.Ed Special Education or equivalent examination, and mandatorily hold an RCI registration certificate with an active CRR number.

Age Limit

For Special Educators serving on contract/deliverables basis, the maximum age limit is 60 years as on the exam date (November 3, 2026). No specific age limits are mentioned for other serving teachers, implying existing service rules apply.

UPESSC Special TET 2026 Exam Pattern

The Special TET will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and will be conducted for 2 hours and 30 minutes (150 minutes). Key details are:

• Total Questions: 150
• Total Marks: 150 (each question carries 1 mark)
• Negative Marking: There is NO negative marking.
• Medium of Paper: Hindi and English (except for language subjects).
• Qualifying Marks:
  • General Category: 90 out of 150 (60%) or more
  • SC / ST / OBC / Freedom Fighter Dependent / Ex-servicemen (self) / Disabled Category: 82 out of 150 (55%)
  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS - Unreserved): 82 out of 150 (55%)
  • STET Special Teacher (CWSN) – Unreserved / Reserved: Same qualifying marks as corresponding category above.
• Normalization: If the exam is held in multiple shifts, a normalization process will be applied for comparative evaluation of scores.

Important Instructions for the Written Exam

• Admit card download instructions, along with exam date, place, time, and centre details, will be communicated via SMS, email, newspaper, and the official website.
• Candidates must appear only at their allotted centre; no change of centre is permitted.
• Download admit cards from www.upessc.up.gov.in using your registration number/mobile number and date of birth.
• Candidature is provisional. Ineligibility found at any stage will lead to cancellation.
• Any misconduct in the exam hall will result in cancellation of candidature and potential debarment from future exams.
• Candidates MUST bring a black ball-point pen for filling the OMR sheet. Other pens, pencils, and whitener are strictly prohibited.
• Do not make changes or use erasers/whitener on the OMR sheet. Darkening more than one circle for a question will lead to non-evaluation of that question.
• Divyangjan (disabled) candidates are entitled to a Scribe facility and 20 minutes extra time per hour, as per Government Orders. They must arrange their own scribe and register at the Commission office at least one week prior to the exam.
• No travel allowance is payable for appearing in the exam.

Instructions for Reserved Category Candidates

• Uttar Pradesh domicile candidates claiming reservation must clearly mention their category in the application.
• Candidates claiming multiple reservations will receive only one, the most beneficial.
• Reserved category candidates not domiciled in Uttar Pradesh will be treated as General category.
• For women candidates, only a caste certificate issued from the father's side is valid.
• Caste certificates must be in the format prescribed by the Uttar Pradesh Government.
• EWS certificates are valid only if they pertain to the year prior to the application year and are submitted in the prescribed format.

How to Apply for UPESSC Special TET 2026

Follow these steps to successfully apply online:

1. Visit the Official Website: Go to www.upessc.up.gov.in.
2. Complete One Time Registration (OTR): OTR is mandatory before applying for any post/exam on this portal. If you haven't done so, complete it first.
3. Fill the Application Form: Fill the registration and application form mandatorily in English. Pay special attention to category, sub-category, date of birth, and gender, as these cannot be changed after final submission.
4. Enter Specific Details:
   • Serving Primary/Upper Primary level teachers must mention their eHRMS code.
   • Special Teachers (CWSN) must mention their RCI registration certificate number along with an active CRR number.
5. Upload Documents:
   • Scanned Signature: JPG/JPEG format, 10 KB–200 KB, 140x110 pixel resolution, on a white background.
   • Passport-size Photo: JPG/JPEG format, 30 KB–300 KB, 300–600 pixel resolution.
   • Required Certificates/Documents: PDF format, 50 KB–500 KB.
6. Pay Application Fee: Pay the applicable fee online via Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking on or before October 4, 2026.
7. Utilize Correction Window: A correction window will be open until October 8, 2026, to rectify any errors. Note that fees for erroneous applications are not refunded or adjusted.
