AIIMS Guwahati Senior Resident & Senior Demonstrator Recruitment 2026 Overview
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Guwahati has released an official recruitment notification for the post of Senior Residents and Senior Demonstrators on a tenure basis. This recruitment is being conducted under the Central Residency Scheme for a maximum period of three years. Eligible candidates holding postgraduate medical degrees (MD, MS, DNB, MDS) or relevant non-medical postgraduate and doctoral qualifications can apply online. Note: If qualified EWS candidates are unavailable, the respective seats will not be carried forward as backlog and can be filled by General category candidates on a provisional basis.
Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualifications
The academic eligibility varies depending on the specific post discipline:
- For Medical Candidates: Postgraduate Medical Degree (MD/MS/DNB) or equivalent in the concerned specialty from an institution recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
- For Dental Candidates: MDS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from a recognised university/institute.
- For Non-Medical Candidates (Senior Demonstrator): M.Sc. in the relevant medical subject (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacology) with a PhD in the respective discipline.
Age Limit and Relaxations
The upper age limit is set at 45 years as of the last date of online application submission (18 September 2026). Category-wise relaxation on the upper age limit is applicable as follows:
- SC / ST Candidates: Up to 5 Years
- OBC Candidates: Up to 3 Years
- PwBD (UR) Candidates: Up to 10 Years
- PwBD (OBC) Candidates: Up to 13 Years
- PwBD (SC/ST) Candidates: Up to 15 Years
Salary and Pay Scales
The consolidated pay scale structure for selected candidates as per the 7th CPC is mentioned below:
- Medical Candidates: Level-11 of the Pay Matrix with an entry pay of Rs. 67,700/- per month plus Non-Practice Allowance (NPA) and standard allowances admissible under central government rules.
- Non-Medical Candidates (M.Sc. with PhD): Level-10 of the Pay Matrix with an entry pay of Rs. 56,100/- per month plus admissible allowances.
Selection Procedure
The selection process is direct and does not involve any written examinations:
- Scrutiny of Applications: Documents and applications will be verified for eligibility constraints.
- Personal Interview: Eligible candidates will be called for a direct interview at the Director's Board Room, Medical College Building, AIIMS Guwahati.
- Document Verification: Original testimonials must be presented at 08:00 AM on the day of the interview. No TA/DA is provided for attending the interview.
