All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur (AIIMS Nagpur) has issued an official notification (Advt. No. Admin-1/SR/26/04, dated 03/09/2026) for the recruitment of 72 Senior Resident (SR) positions. These vacancies are distributed across 31 clinical and para-clinical departments. This appointment is under the Government of India Residency Scheme, initially for a duration of 1 year, extendable up to a maximum of 3 years.

Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualifications

Candidates must fulfill the designated medical residency requirements as specified below:

• For General Specialties: Post Graduate Medical Degree (MD/MS/DNB) in the respective specialty from an NMC/MCI recognized university or institute.
• For Super-Specialty (*): MD/MS/DNB in broad discipline, or DM/M.Ch in the respective super-specialty subject.
• For Trauma & Emergency (#): MD in Emergency Medicine / MD in General Medicine / MS in General Surgery / MD in Anaesthesiology / MD in Respiratory Medicine / MS in Orthopaedics or equivalent recognized qualification.
• Registration: Candidates must possess a valid registration certificate issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC), Medical Council of India (MCI), or State Medical Council.

Age Limit and Relaxations

The upper age limit is assessed as of the closing date of application (17 September 2026).

• General / Unreserved / EWS: 45 Years
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 48 Years (3 years relaxation)
• SC / ST: 50 Years (5 years relaxation)
• PwD (General): 55 Years (10 years relaxation)
• PwD (OBC): 58 Years (13 years relaxation)
• PwD (SC/ST): 60 Years (15 years relaxation)

Note: Age relaxation benefits are applicable only to posts reserved for the respective categories.

Application Fee & Payment Details

The application fee must be transferred online using NEFT. Check the category-wise application fee structure below:

• General / OBC / EWS Category: Rs. 500/-
• SC / ST Category: Rs. 250/-
• PwD Category: Fully Exempted

Salary Structure

Appointed Senior Residents will be placed under the Central Government Residency Scheme pay scale:

• Pay Level: Pay Level 11 (Cell 1) of the 7th Central Pay Commission (7th CPC)
• Basic Pay: Rs. 67,700/- per month
• Allowances: NPA (Non-Practising Allowance) if applicable, and other standard admissible allowances as per central government norms.

Selection Process

The recruitment methodology relies primary on the screening and interview performance:

1. Initial screening of application forms and uploaded documents.
2. In case of a disproportionate volume of applications, a written test may be conducted to shortlist candidates for the interview round.
3. Personal Interview at AIIMS Nagpur. Candidates must present original credentials during this session.
4. Medical evaluation and final merit listing.
